On the day of the wedding Scott had a joyflight in a helicopter along the coast, his wedding present from Cheryl. The boys all met at home to get organised. All the girls spent the night before the wedding at the Waters Edge, and got ready there also.
Cheryl’s aunty is a florist in Sydney and brought all the church and reception flowers fresh from the Sydney markets, and created the floral arrangements at the hotel in Port Macquarie. We wanted bouquets that would last the day no problem, and that we could keep for years to come. We decided to go with Real Touch Latex flowers, which fooled everyone during the day with how real they look! Cheryl’s dad is one of nine children, and all the aunties and uncles teamed up to set up all the reception and church decorations, with the chair covers, sashes and dance floor backdrop by Wedding Perfection.
The Mustangs were dream cars for both of us, and was a very special wedding present from Scott’s mum. There was a 1965 GT500 Eleanor, 2 1967 black Mustang Coupes and 2 1965 cream Mustang Convertibles. The weather was not great the whole morning, and even at 1pm on the day, but the rain stayed away long enough for us to get to the church and have all our photos taken, with light sprinkling starting as we arrived to the reception.
The bridesmaids and Cheryl walked down the aisle to “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, and Scott and Cheryl left the church to “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen. During the ceremony, we opted for a variation on a sand ceremony. We selected a bottle of red wine and sealed it in a wine box, along with a letter to each other and photos taken leading up to the wedding. This is to be sealed until our 10th wedding anniversary.
Our cake was made by Trish Jackson, and was a three tier cherry ripe mud cake. We gave Trish a challenge with the unusual flavour request, as well as needing it to be gluten free! We had it decorated simply, with silver fondant and navy blue ribbon. We had a Perspex heart with our names and wedding date on the top, along with a Yoshi and Princess Peach.
The guest favours were a little box filled with a marshmallow snowball and M ‘n’ Ms and at the end of the night the stunning roses used in the centrepieces were taken home by the guests.
